What is Labour Market Information system?
It includes career, occupational, learning and labour market information used by Job Seekers, employed, employers, Service providers and people in general to make careful decisions about the labour market (USA Federal/ Provincial/ Territorial Strategic Vision for LMI, 2000).

What is definition of ILO labour LMIS?
 For the ILO, this relates to "any information concerning the size and composition of the labour market, the way it or any part of it functions, i.e. its problems, the opportunities which may be available in the labour market, and the employment-related intentions or aspirations of those who are part of it".

What are the elements of LMIS?
A labour market information system will include the following elements:

  • users (who may be individuals or organizations) ;
  • signals, indicators and information sources;
  • managers of the system, data collectors, operators and analysts ;
  • labour market information per se;
  • data collection and analysis methodology;
  • financial, material and human resources;

Sub-systems for training of the personnel and end-users of the system, feedback from users and evaluation, research, development of methodologies and publications.
